Pebble
Pebble by Irish Writer and POET Helen McNulty

Pebble

fallen from a mountain
or born in the firey belly of the earth
once black or maybe blue?
beaten and bashed by waves
for millennia
its fractured edges
succumbed to the ocean’s tumultuous moods
now here under my foot
warm, soft, round
pinkish grey.
